
On Friday, after a massive shift in weather conditions, more than 15 years were diverted at the airport in Delhi. The National City witnessed strong storms and impact winds.
Several airlines, including Air India, Indigo and Spicejet, have issued advice that announced to passengers about the overall delay in their flight plan due to delays or deviations caused by the dust storm in Delhi and other parts of northern India.
According to the PTI press agency, over 15 flights were diverted at Indira Gandhi (Igia).
“Given the unfavorable weather conditions in Delhi, some flights at Delhi Airport are influenced. It is recommended to contact their relevant airlines for the latest flight updates,” Dial Dial said in the X post.
Air India said flight operations across parts of northern India were hit and advised guests to check the latest state of their flights before they went to the airport.
“The bad weather caused by heavy thunderstorms and impact winds has been influenced by flight operations across parts of northern India. Some of our flights to Delhi are delayed or diverted, which will probably affect our overall flight plan,” the airline said in its X Post.
Indigo said Delhi and Jaipur experience dust storm, affect take -off and landing, and potentially cause air traffic overload. This can lead to delay or diversion, the operator said in the post.
Due to bad weather in Delhi, all departures/arrivals and their subsequent flights can be affected, Spicejet said.
IMD releases orange alert for Delhi
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for Delhi and neighboring NCR, warned against unfavorable weather conditions in the coming hours.
The weather agency said the dust storm, followed by a storm, accompanied by a bright to slight collision, lightning and impact winds reaching 40-80 km / h, is expected later in the evening.
