The judge of the Tirupattur and Meeting district, S. Meenakumari, condemned Sheeeter K. Hemanthraj on Friday for pushing a pregnant woman from a moving train near Katado in February as she resisted his sexual attack attempt.
The judge will say a quantum of punishment on Monday (July 14). A total of 22 witnesses were explored, including the survivors.
“Hemanthraj has been booked under various parts of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhit (BNS). He is currently filed in the central prison in Vellore,” said PT Saravanan.
The police said on February 6 Hemanthraj (31) pushed a 36-year-old pregnant woman from Coimbore-Tirupati Intercity Express to resist his attempt to sexually attack. He was then arrested in connection with the incident by the government railway police (GRP), Jolarpet.
A woman who was pregnant for four months lived with her family in Tiruppur. On the day of the incident she went to her mother’s house.
The police said the accused Hemanthraj of Pooncholai near KV Kuppam joined the women’s compartment on Jolarpet. When the woman was alone in the compartment, she told him to get down, but said he said he got to another station since the train was moving. After some time he tried to think sexually.
When she resisted his attempt, Hemanthraj reportedly broke his right hand and pushed it to the door where she held on the handle. Then she lost her adhesion, fell and became unconscious, the police said.
Several railway workers saved a woman and received her to a government medical college and a vellore hospital.
The police said the accused was published on a conditional deposit a few months ago. In April 2024 he was imprisoned for the murder of a 29 -year -old woman from Chennai.
Previous cases
He also faced another case, registered in 2022, for pushing his mobile phone after grasping his mobile phone. According to the law, Goondas was also detained twice, they said.
