Kelsie Whitmore, Jug and Outfielder Trailblazing, which became the first woman to play with a MLB partner, is on the verge of history again, this time in Mexico.
The 26 -year -old arrived in Veracruz last week after he was invited to try El Guila De Vereracruz before the Mexican Baseball League season in 2025. If she earned the list, Whitmore would become the first woman to play in the top professional baseball league.
“I feel amazing,” said Whitmore Associated Press. “It was a great time and at the end of the day, even though the environment is different and the place in which it is different is still the same game. I am grateful to develop and compete.”
While Rosi del Castillo had previously stood up in professional regional men’s leagues in Mexico, no woman has made the highest level until perhaps now.
Whitmore debuted with Veracruz with Veracruz last weekend, relief against Puebl Pericos and allowed only one hit. He tries to earn a place in a team like a pitcher, although she also likes to play in the field and beat, while with the American national team.
“When I am in the national team, he likes to beat and be in the outfield, I run the balls down,” she said. “But career, I love diving in detail, biomechanics, playground design, all about pitching.”
Whitmore also hopes that this opportunity will become more than just a test.
“I try not only to play the game – that’s my life. That would mean a lot to me and my family,” she said. “I never knew if I had the opportunity to show off, so it would be an honor, a privilege and I would be grateful for it.”
He is already working closely with the pitching coach El Guily Esteban Loaiza, a former MLB All-Star, who spent 14 seasons in large companies.
“I like to choose my brain. He has such great experience in playing professional baseball,” Whitmore said. “He also speaks English too, so I really connected with him about the game.”
Although he feels welcome to the team, Whitmore admits that the language barrier has made it difficult to connect with teammates and fans.
“I think I got a couple” Te Amo “from the crowd as I moved,” she said with a smile. “It was a good positive.”
In response, she withdrew the language application and began to learn Spanish. “I downloaded Duolingo and I’m still on the first level,” she laughed. “We are trying to do it.”
With the season of the Mexican baseball league, which will start next week, there is no final deadline for the list. El Guila packed his plan of presets and is soon expected to decide on the future of Whitmore.
If the team creates, not only breaks the barriers, but will have a lot of time to take its Spanish to the second level.
