The historical war tank T-55 “Shivasakti”, which was used in the historical Indo-Pak War for Bangladeshi liberation, will now be in public in the district of Ranebennur in the Haveri district.
The historic tank will now be exhibited permanently before the Mini Vidhan Judge in Ranebennur, thanks to the interest that Ranebennur Mla Prakash Koliwad. During the celebration of Independence Day on Friday, the representative of the Legislative Assembly of Karnataka UT introduced the reservoir.
On this occasion, Mr. Prakash Koliwad said: “A demonstration of a war tank is a way to honor brave soldiers who led a tank in a war field. It is also aimed at inspiring young people and shooting is about the military power of the Earth.”
Speaker UT Khader called the installation of the tank in Ranebennur as pride for the whole state. “It inspires the younger generation to learn more about the history of our army and boast it.”
He also called on everyone to understand the history and be patriotic and contribute to building nations.
History
During the Indo-Pak War in 1965, the Indian army was felt the need for armored combat vehicles. The Indian government therefore proceeded to European countries about the offer of battle tanks. The T-55 reservoir was obtained in 1966-77. It was the main battle tank in this time period and, according to the predominant policy, should have lived for 15 years with one medium life revision.
This T55 tank was acquired from Russia during the Indo-Pak War for Bangl Liberation in 1971, appointed Shivasakti and helped the Army men to succeed in their mission and achieve victory. Shivasakti belongs to the attacking regiment of the Indian army and was taken from the central depot of a combat vehicle in Kirkee in Pune (Maharashtra).
The reservoir was installed in Ranebennura using 15 lamps released from the local MLA development fund and 9.85 GBP Lakh from municipal grants.
