TDP state president Palla Srinivasa Rao, who pitched the delimitation bill introduced in Parliament as a “historic corrective” aimed at ensuring balanced representation across the country, on Thursday dismissed concerns that the proposed exercise would disadvantage southern states, terming such claims as “incorrect and baseless”.
Explaining the contours of the proposed reform, Mr. Srinivasa Rao noted that the bill deviates from a strict population-based approach and uniformly benefits the southern state. This effectively addresses concerns about regional imbalances and ensures that no state is disadvantaged in the changing parliamentary framework.
