The procession to indicate the immersion of Idol Ganesha installed Hindu Mahasabha in Shivamogg attracted a huge crowd on Saturday. In the middle of close security, hundreds of people participated in a parade that included folk groups and group performances.
The procession began in the Temple of Bheemeshware and covered the main road SPM, Ramanna Shreshhi, Gandhi Bazar Road, Sn Circle, AA and arrived in the evening. The idol was then immersed in the Tunga River near the Temple of Bheemeshware.
Along the march, the devotees offered garlands of fruit, flowers and dry fruit of the idol. Many organizations distributed water, butter milk, juice and devoted food who participated in the procession.
The administration of the district of Shivamogg diverted the operation to ensure a smooth parade. Heavy vehicles were not allowed to enter the city. Many schools announced on the day of the holiday with regard to traffic jams. The police installed CCTV cameras all over the city to maintain vigilia in any undesirable incident. Almost 3,000 police officers, including five police superintendents, two other police superintendents, 21 police representatives, 58 police inspectors, 65 police inspectors and 198 police inspectors.
