The 21-day Hindu Mahaganpati festival, organized by the Hindu Mahaganpati Utsav Samiti, concluded on Sunday with the immersion of the idol in the SB Lake after a colorful procession through the city.
The procession started at a place near Kalaburagi Fort after special prayers and religious rituals. Seers, public representatives and leaders from various organizations participated in the procession.
The procession passed through Humnabad Base, Kirana Bazar, Chowk Police Station, Cloth Bazar, Super Market and Jagat Circle before reaching the immersion point.
Traditional performances including dollu kunitha, thamate, Solapur dhol, dhol-tasha, puppet dance and devotional performances added color to the procession. Youth danced to the beat of traditional drums while women and children carried flowers and prayed.
