The Mahashtra Government has ordered Hindi as a compulsory third language for students in Marathi and English secondary schools from classes 1 to 5.
Marathi, however, criticized this step and accused the government of reviving politics through “Backdoor” after it had previously downloaded it, PTI reported.

On Tuesday, the Maharashtra School Education Department issued an order as part of the implementation of “State Curriculum for School Education 2024”, in accordance with National Educational Policy (NEP) 2020.
According to the order, all students in classes 1 to 5 will now be compulsory to study Hindi as the third language of “generally”.

“Those who want to learn any other language as an opportunity for Hindi should meet the expectations of 20 students from each standard at school. In such a situation, the teacher will be available for this particular language or the language will be taught online,” he said.
Critics claim that the last government move is contrary to earlier statements by Dad Bhus Minister, that Hindi will not be compulsory for basic classes.
Although the government order provides students conditional to decide on the next Indian language instead of Hindi, it provides that at least 20 students in school must decide on the alternative.
If such a demand occurs, the teacher or the language will be appointed online, the added order.
The Directive also orders that in schools after other media teaching, the formula of three languages must include middle language, marathi and English.
The government betrayed the people of Marathi.
“This is nothing more than the introduction of Hindi,” Deepak Paar of Marathi Bhasha Abyas Kendra, based in Mumbai, said, working on maintaining the language of Marathi, PTI reported.
“The government has betrayed people from Marathi. If we are now silent, it will prepare the way to dismantle the federal structure and legacy of the Maharashtra movement,” he accused in a social media and urged people to protest.
