More than 260 roads, including 176 in the Mandi district, have been blocked in Himachal Pradesh after heavy rains in the last few days, officials said on Saturday (July 5, 2025).
On Sunday (July 6, 2025), the local authority (6 July 2025) issued a “red” warning of a very difficult to extremely heavy precipitation.
For Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba, Chamba, Solan, Shimla and Kulle, a “orange” warning for severe to very strong precipitation in isolated places was released.
Rainfall between 115.6 mm and 204.4 mm per day is categorized as very heavy, while anything over 204.4 mm is considered extremely heavy. Last year heavy monsoon rains caused massive destruction in the state, so more than 550 people were dead.
The weather department warned against possible landslides, lightning floods, infestation and damage to vulnerable structures, crops and basic services. People were recommended to keep them away from the water bodies and avoid vulnerable areas.
According to the State Emergency Operational Center (SEOC), estimated losses are still around the CRORE RS 541. However, the main Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the losses are close to the CRS RS 700 because the details are still being compiled.
About 300 transformers and 281 water supply schemes are also affected, Seoc said.
Light to medium rainfall plunged parts of the state, with a yogindernagar receiving 52 mm from Friday (July 4, 2025) in the evening, followed by 28.8 mm each in the casting and pamps, 21 mm in paonta Sahib, 18 mm in UNA, 17.4 mm in Berthin in Berthin, 15.6 mm Devi.
Since the beginning of Monsolane 20th June, a total of 72 deaths have been reported in the state, of which 45 are associated with rain -related incidents such as Cloudburstes, Lightning Floods and Landslides.
The Mandi district witnessed maximum damage, with 10 cloudburst incidents, lightning floods and landslides on Tuesday (1 July 2025) and claimed 14 lives. There are search operations to monitor 31 missing persons, the officials added.
