Main Minister Himachal Pradesh Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday (September 5, 2025) intervened on the side of Bharatiya Janata (BJP) and accused his leaders to remain limited to the “social media” platforms for their activities, while not providing tangible assistance to residents influenced by disaster.
He said Congress leaders actively deal with affected communities and seek to reduce suffering caused by disaster. The state government has expanded assistance to the affected families from its own limited resources because no support has been adopted from the central government led by the BJP, the main minister said during his visit to the Kulle district.
Mr. Sukha said that the state government had asked the center to provide each affected family with a “one bigh” of forest land to help them relocate to a safer place. Given that 68% of state land was categorized as forest land and the state could not provide such land without the consent of the center, it urged the BJP and its deputies to seek the support of the Union’s government to approval one bighy forest land on the family, along with a special relief package.
World banking
The main minister said that the state government also prepared a project of 3,000 GBP to obtain help from the World Bank for disaster management to help restore and rehabilitate affected families.
“This year’s monsoon has caused extensive devastation that led to severe losses on life and property. During the last four days, collisions have caused further damage in different parts of the state.
Mr. Sukhu said that the administration was involved in Army Chinook and Mi-17 helicopters to save the devoted stuck during the “Manimahesh Yatra” in the Chamba district and safely transport them from Bharmour to Chamba.
