The leader and renowned human rights lawyer Jaising triggered a debate on social media by questioning the central placement of the male toilet in the Supreme Indian court. She described her location in the court corridor as “highly offensive to women” and urged the main Indian judge to take acknowledged.
Jaising believes that the current location of the toilet for men – allegedly placed in the middle along the main corridor – reflects the relics of the time when men were tremendously dominated by men.
“Oh my God! When will the male toilet be moved from the center of the corridor to the end of the Supreme Court corridors? Highly offensive for women. The main judge of India,” Jaising wrote, sharing a picture of himself.
The picture shows that it faces the inscription, which is “gentlemen only for advocates”, which seems to be located in the Supreme Indian court. She is dressed in traditional white saris with a black vest – a typical courtroom clothing for Indian lawyers – and you can see how he relies on the wall with his hands on his forehead and seemingly expresses frustration.
Her contribution has received a number of answers. Here are some reactions: “I agree with the exception of the offensive part. It’s unpleasant for every sex, including men. But not offensive.”
The head of the lawyer responded to this
“You may be right, but its location suggests that it belongs to the time when women were not lawyers in large numbers. Times have changed, so architecture must.”
“In addition to everything, how is it offensive to women?”
The lawyer replied with a pointed note:
“It’s offensive in extremely public space. The toilet must be moved to the end of the corridor.”
“The best thing I’ve seen today.”
