Mobile users across India had a hard Monday evening because Airtel, Jio and Vodafone-Idea networks faced disturbance within hours. While many fought calls and mobile data, frustrated subscribers quickly took social media to share their experience and demand answers from telecommunications operators.
What went wrong
According to the tracker DownDetctor, Airtel was the first to face an increase in complaints, with more than 3,600 outage messages around 16:32, mainly from Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and Bengalur. By 17:30 the numbers decreased below 2,000 when the services gradually continued. Airtel acknowledged this problem at X (formerly Twitter), apologized and ensured that users immediately renew services.
Just a few hours later, Jio and Vodafone-Idea users also labeled problems. Jio registered more than 200 complaints about outages, while Vodafone-Wed reported almost 50, which influenced cities such as Delhi, Bombai, Calcutta, Bengaluru, Chennai and Jaipur. The Jio outage seemed more widespread and spread over Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Patna and Ahmedabad.
The reaction of social media
The interruption of the services launched a flood of contributions on X and other platforms, with users expressing anger, confusion and even concerns about current disturbances in different networks. While some demanded immediate clarification from telecommunications companies, others shared their frustration by not calling or accessing mobile internet during working hours.
The user wrote: “Airtel down in Delhi? In the last 1 hour my wife thinks I ignore her calls. Thanks @Airtelindia to turn the network problem into a marital problem.”
Another user commented: “Can’t call or use data services today. Today it looks like the main network outage.”
The third asked: “How much time is required to restore problems with @Airtelindia server, it was more than 2 hours higher?”
“Jio Network Down in Gurgaon, we can’t call and use mobile data,” wrote the fourth user on X.
“Services are at the bottom. You cannot receive or receive calls and even messages do not work. This causes serious problems. It’s very frustrating, please solve this problem,” wrote the fifth user.
Several users directly marked the service provider and urged them to make statements and updates faster.
Jio also issued a statement: “We would like to clarify that the JIO network works normally throughout the day without operational problems. All calls and calls of sisio-to-jio from Jio to other incompleted networks work smoothly.”
The company also added: “The only problem observed was Jio’s calls on a specific affected network of customers, due to the downtime at the end of this network. This did not affect Jio customers who called on the Jio network or join any other networks.
