Rohit, Kohli lead India to big win against Australia
Rohit Sharma hit his 50th international hundred and Virat Kohli timed what might be their last outing in Australia to lead India to a consolation nine-wicket victory in the third ODI here on Saturday. After the Harshit Rana-led bowlers restricted Australia to a sub-par 236, Rohit (121 not out) and Kohli (74 not out) stitched together a 168-run alliance in just 170 balls to take India to 237 for one in 38.3 overs for the second wicket.
Congress demands Public Accounts Committee probe LIC’s ₹33,000 crore investment in Adani companies
The Congress on Saturday demanded that Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) probe what it termed the “disturbing misappropriation” of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) funds in favor of the Adani group. The party claimed that finance ministry and NITI Aayog officials pushed through a proposal to invest nearly ₹33,000 crore of LIC funds in the Adani group in May 2025 to “indicate confidence” in the conglomerate and “encourage participation from other investors”.

Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) on Saturday said its investments in Adani group companies were made independently and in accordance with its board-approved policies, after detailed due diligence. “The Department of Financial Services (in the Union Finance Ministry) or any other body has no role in such (investment) decisions,” LIC said in a statement released on X.

Maharashtra doctor’s death: Police nab the accused by name in a note written on her palm
“Police on Saturday (October 25, 2025) arrested one person in connection with the alleged death of a 28-year-old female doctor in Maharashtra’s Satara district,” an official said. Police have arrested Prashant Bankar, one of the two men named by the doctor in a note written on her palm,” he said. The doctor, who hails from Beed district and was posted at a government hospital, was found dead in a hotel room in Phaltan district of Satara district on Thursday evening.
