The High Court of Manipur asked the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to report a detailed report on the progress of the kidnapping investigation and the killing of six women and children from the Meitei community in the middle of the ethnic conflict that was seen in the manipuro Jiribam district last year.

It came when the bench of the chief judge K. Somaskekar and the judiciary Ahanthem Bimol Singh heard a public interest (drank) filed by the carriers of the Civil Society of Uripok Apuna Lup, a conglomerate of dozens of local clubs in the Uripok area.
The petitioners demanded detailed records of the case and prayed for the instructions for the arrest of persons involved in the crime and a quick and time -bound probe into the case. In the bench order of 7 July, the High Court stated that it has been almost seven months since the incident and “NIA has no progress report”.
The court stated that the lawyer NIA was looking for another time to return to it with a detailed report on the progress of “accusations”. The court also ordered NIA to submit “a detailed report on progress in terms of charges before the court concerned”.
“If the offer is not submitted, this matter should be considered seriously,” the court added. The High Court stated the matter for further hearing on July 24th.
After the November flare in the ethnic conflict in the Jiribam district, NIA participated in two other investigation cases, in addition to the kidnapping and killing of six women and children from the Meitei community.
One was for alleged rape and burning live woman Kuki-Zo, Zosangkim (31), in Jiribam 7 November; and the alleged attack on the Police Forces of the Central Reserve (CRPF) in Jiribam’s Bor General November 11, in which 10 armed militants were shot.
Previously, in the hearing of this Pil, the Ministry of the Interior of the Union (MHA) filed a statement to the court and claimed that, given that Jiribam cases were “law and order, they fall under the state government.” This statement came after the Central Agency NIA.
However, the main Minister of N. Biren Singh resigned from this honorary statement by MHA and manipur was included in the President’s government.
