The Bombay High Court on Wednesday (September 30, 2026) stayed the order of the court granting bail to Sachin Vaz in the Antilia bomb scare and Mansukh Hiran murder case. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had moved the Supreme Court against the bail order. The High Court adjourned the hearing to October 7.

The NIA’s appeal went to Justice Girish Kulkarni and Justice Neel Gokhale after the other judges of the Supreme Court refused. The bench reserved the bail decision for the time being and posted the matter for October 7.

The High Court order said the bail order would not operate until the October hearing.

Earlier, the appeal was taken up before Justice Bharati Dangre and Justice Ashish Chavan on Wednesday. Judge Dangre declined to hear the appeal. She cited the order she had issued in the case against Vaze and Anil Deshmukh, the former home minister of Maharashtra. She said the matter was related to the case. Justice Chavan also did not hear the matter. He appeared for the CBI in the Deshmukh case, Justice Dangre said. The panel then issued a resolution dismissing the appeal.

On Tuesday (September 29, 2026) evening, the NIA appeal was mentioned before Justice Sarang Kotwal and Justice Ranjitsinha Bhonsale. The bench had a list to hear the NIA’s challenge. Justice Kotwal dismissed the appeal. He said that advocate Manoj Mohite had appeared for Vaz and that he was not hearing matters in which Mr. Mohite was representing the party. Justice Kotwal worked with Mr. Mohite during his days as an advocate.

The NIA can mention the appeal to Chief Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi and can ask him to set up a bench to hear the appeal.
