Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Friday sought to put the ball on the Congress high command with regard to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son and MLC Yathindra’s statement that the high command has sent a clear signal that there will be no leadership change in Karnataka.
Talking to mediapersons in Mangaluru, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the Congress high command will have to respond to such a statement. “I will not react. Whatever the Delhi authorities have to react,” he said when asked about Mr Yathindra’s remarks that his father would complete a full term and MLA Basavaraj’s statement that clarification was needed on the power-sharing pact.
The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president was answering questions from reporters at the Mangaluru International Airport.
The Deputy Chief Minister mocked Mr. Yathindra and sarcastically remarked that, “He is our High Command. I will accept whatever he says with respect. He made the statement as if he is the High Command, let us accept him as the High Command.”
It may be noted that Mr. Yathindra had kicked the dust on the leadership issue during the winter session of the state legislature in Belagavi in December 2025 by claiming that his father would complete the entire term.
