Hescom officials disconnected the power supply to the sub-registrar’s office in Belagavi on January 30 after it failed to clear dues.
Officials said the sub-registrar had outstanding energy charges of around ₹ 2.31 lakh, which had accumulated over several months. Office visitors were inconvenienced as they were asked to return after a few days.
Bureau official Anil Gore told reporters that a letter has been sent to the headquarters explaining the situation and giving instructions on the next course of action. He said all registration work has been temporarily stopped due to lack of power supply.
