heroin seized at Aluva railway station worth ₹ 41.8 lakh; two held
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) seized 204 grams of heroin with an estimated value of ₹ 41.8 million at Aluva railway station and arrested two men from Assam during a joint anti-narcotics operation. The seizure was made as part of ‘Operation Narcos’, a nationwide anti-drug operation jointly conducted by the Criminal Intelligence Branch (CIB) of RPF, Thiruvananthapuram and RPF, Aluva, under the leadership of Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Mohammed Hanifa.
The accused, identified as Nazir Uddin (33) and Kausar Ahmed Majumdar (32), were detained at Platform No. 1 after arriving by Dibrugarh–Kanyakumari Express (Train No. 22504). Upon inspection, RPF personnel found the men’s Microtek inverter to be unusually light. Upon opening it, they discovered a crystalline narcotic hidden inside the device.
The accused and the seized drug were handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP), Ernakulam South for further investigation. A case will be registered under the Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS).
