Ravindra Jadeja created a brave knocking to keep India in hunting during their pursuit of 193 against England in the third test at Lord’s. On day 5, India was reduced to 82 for 7 and then to 112 for 8 after Sunday evening and Monday morning, the upper and medium of the fiery magic of fast bowling by Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes and Brydon Cars were blowing. When England seemed to pack the test for the morning session and enjoy the lunch of his master, Jadeja threw himself and refused to go down without a fight.
What looked like a tame defeat ended with heart after heart effort From Jadej and India No. 10 and 11 – Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. While Supreme Order Stars, including Yashasvi Jaiswal and Captain SHUBMAN GILL, threw their goals away on 4th day, so India had 58 on 4 on stumps, Bumrah and Siraj showed gravel and character, facing 84 balls and offered chased Jadeji support.
ENG vs Indian, 3. Test main points | Scorecard
The partnership for the last two goals lasted 212 balls and kept England on the playground until the third meeting. India, however, still did not reach the targets of 22 runs. Jadeja, along with Bumrah and Siraj, added 58 runs and remained undefeated after he faced 181 balls – but their efforts could not cancel damage caused by earlier collapse.
Jadeja threw carefully along the tail and refused to offer England a breath of opportunities. All-Rounder Chennai Super Kings hit six in 48. Jadeja abstained risking against Chris Woakes, Shoaib Bashir and Joe Root, who found much less help from the surface than Stokes, Archer or CARSE.
More calculated risks?
Former Indian Captain Anil Kumble suggested that Jadeja be able to take several other calculated risks, especially against Woakes and Spinners that could push India closer to the goal.
“Two pitchs that could potentially accept were Chris Woakes, who is a little slower in the air, and then Bashir and Joe Root. I know they are a leaving ball when they took the ball but did not change that he could worry about spin or outer edge.
“You want to undergo these risks. Yes, there were several runs that they correctly refused, because Bumhrah and Siraj were at the other end, but he could participate a little more,” Kumble said.
Gavascar and Gill to defend Jadeja’s approach
While the social media buzzed with mixed reactions to Jadejaho shift, the batting legend Sunil Gavascar prevented this approach and stated that the versatile in the given circumstances could not do everything more.
“I think it was dictated by the fact that he had fired a lower order dough. He tried to farm as much as possible. Also at this stage you are also wary of playing an air shot on this type of playground.
Meanwhile, Captain Shaubman Gill supported the strategy employed by Jadeja and the tail and noted that India was trying to build a small partnership and slowly transfer pressure back to England.
Gill said India was planning to wait for a second new ball – just 5.1 overs out – suggests that the old dick ball was difficult to intervene, especially when England spread the field against Jadeji.
“Every Five or Six Runs They Scored, You Could Feel The Pressure Building on England. And Small Partnership of 30-40 Runs Could Have Made and Huge Difference. We Were Quite Optimistic When Siraj Was Batting 12–15 Runs Left, Anything Could Happen.
In the end, Bumhrah’s resistance ended with Stokes Bouncer in 62nd and Siraj’s brave vigil ended in heartbreaking fashion. Siraj grew in trust as he saw significant spells, almost negotiated Bashir, but was bowed when the ball hit the center of his bat and thrust back on the stumps.
Jadeja and Siraj were visibly gutted at the end, because India was approaching, but eventually short. England players, including Zak Crawley and Joe Root, switched to comfort the tear sir. Captain Stokes put the arm around Jadej’s arm and acknowledged the defiant resistance of the Indian star.
Since England took the lead in the series 2-1, India will hope to bounce back when both teams meet in the fourth test and from July 23 in Manchester.
