Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) chairman BR Naidu reiterated that Heritage Foods, which belongs to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s family, never supplied ghee to TTD either directly or indirectly.
The allegation assumes significance in view of the ongoing rift between the ruling NDA government and the YSRCP in the Legislative Council over the award of a contract to supply ghee to Indapur Dairy of Maharashtra.
Mr BR Naidu accused the YSRCP of making frivolous allegations against the ruling dispensation in a desperate bid to divert public attention from its “corrupt role” in the supply of ghee during his regime.
Taking on Leader of Opposition in the Council Botcha Satyanarayan, the TTD president wondered how a senior politician can make flimsy allegations on a sensitive issue like supply of ghee to TTD just to bolster the party line. “Trying to link Indapur Dairy with Heritage Foods is a bad attempt,” he observed.
“Absurd Claim”
TDP Political Bureau member R. Srinivasa Reddy lambasted YSRCP’s “continued attempts” to tarnish the image of Heritage Foods.
“After the party tarnished the image of TTD during its regime by distancing Lord Venkateswara from ordinary devotees, stealing from Parakamani (counting of offerings for Srivari Hundi) and adulteration of ghee used to make the sacred laddu prasadam, the group has now targeted Heritage Foods,” he alleged.
Mr. Srinivasa Reddy termed Heritage Foods as a reputed organization that has won several awards for being systematically run for decades and pulled up YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for making absurd claims about the Tirumala laddu range.
“They can only disrupt the proceedings in the Council, where they have a majority, but do not dare to enter the legislature,” he noted.
