The Karnataka High Court has said it will accept actor Ranveer Singh’s voluntary undertaking to offer prayers at the Chamundeshwari temple in Mysuru and a written apology for his “reckless” act of “mocking” the sacred Daiva tradition depicted in Kantara Chapter-1 and pass appropriate orders disposing of his plea of defamation of religious messages for alleged harm to religious messages.
Justice M. Nagaprasanna made these observations while hearing a petition filed by Mr. Singh challenging the FIR registered by the High Grounds Police in Bengaluru on the instructions of the Bengaluru Metropolitan Magistrate. The magistrate was acting on a private complaint filed by Prashanth Metha, a city advocate.
