Rishabh Pant’s Lucknow Super Giants continued their downward slide in the Indian Premier League after a six-wicket defeat against Mumbai Indians in their IPL 2026 encounter on Monday, May 4 at the Wankhede Stadium. With six consecutive losses, LSG are languishing at the bottom of the tabletheir playoff hopes hang in the balance.
After the match, Pant cut a helpless figure and admitted that the Super Giants are in desperate need of some luck going into their remaining five matches of the season. The LSG captain added that the team could do with a bit of a fortune if they want to turn things around.

“I think we need some luck, man. That’s the only thing I’m going to say. (how do we find that luck?) Yeah, I think a lot of blessings will solve it. And it’s definitely going to take a little bit more effort from us,” Pant said while talking to broadcasters after the match.
‘WE WERE 10-15 RUNS SHORT’
After being asked to bat first, the Super Giants managed 228 for five, which proved insufficient as Mumbai chased it down with eight balls to spare. Rishabh Pant admitted that the Super Giants fell well short of the total they were targeting and added that it would be unfair to blame the bowlers who have consistently played for the team.
“You see, we were definitely 10-15 runs short because it was definitely a 220-230 wicket. And the way we started, we were ahead of them. But at the same time, on a wicket like that, you can’t blame the bowlers all the time. They did a fantastic job for us. So we definitely can’t say much about them,” Pant said.
Lucknow Super Giants will have plenty of introspection when they take on the Rajat Patidar-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekan Cricket Stadium on Thursday, May 7.
