A student from Hyderabad, who recently completed his studies in Australia, was allegedly stabbed at his workplace in Burwood, New South Wales, late on Wednesday.
The victim, Saif Mohammed Shah, was employed at a 7-Eleven store, according to his family and members of the public. He underwent surgery at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney.
According to his family, a group of youths allegedly caused a ruckus in the store. When Mr Shah tried to stop them, he was allegedly stabbed.
He is a resident of Mohammed Shukoor Kaman in the Fateh Darwaza area of the Old City. The family appealed for urgent help and requested government support for his treatment.
All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi took up the matter and sought the intervention of Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. In a post on X, Mr. Owaisi urged officials to ensure that the injured youth get timely help.
An old town resident is missing in Croatia
In a separate incident, Mohammed Faheem Uddin, a resident of Hafeez Baba Nagar, Chandrayangutta, has reportedly gone missing in Zagreb, Croatia. According to Majlis Bachao Tehreek spokesman Amjed Ullah Khan, Mr. Faheem arrived in the country in February 2024 to seek livelihood and was in contact with his family until October. Mr Khan asked the Indian mission in Croatia to help the family find him.
