
A helicopter flying to Kaushambi with Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya on board had to make an emergency landing after it encountered a technical snag soon after take off from Lucknow, sources said on Saturday.
According to a BJP leader close to Maurya, the Deputy Chief Minister was going to Kaushambi to attend several events.
What went wrong?
The helicopter, carrying five persons including Maurya, his aide Vivek and two pilots, had taken off from the Lucknow La Martiniere College ground helipad when a snag occurred.
“Soon after take-off, smoke was detected inside the helicopter, forcing the pilots to decide for an emergency landing at Lucknow airport,” said a BJP leader.
Maurya use another helicopter
Party leaders suggested that Maurya was fine and would go to Kaushambi later in another helicopter.
A team of experts was called to the scene to identify the causes that led to the smoke and forced the pilot to make an emergency landing.
