Channaraj Hattiholi, MLC inaugurated a heavy electronic scale at APMC sub-market at Hirebagewadi village in Belagavi district on Monday.

He said the 80-tonne capacity scale is among the largest in Belagavi Rural Constituency and will help farmers accurately weigh their produce and fetch favorable prices.

“Accurate weighing and smooth transactions in the market are essential for farmers bringing their produce to the market. Installation of the new bridge at APMC will help countless farmers and horticulturists in the surrounding areas,” he said. “It will also save time for farmers who take their produce to wholesalers,” he added.

He said that efforts are underway to gradually develop all necessary infrastructure for farmers. The heavy-duty equipment would ensure accurate weighing of large vehicles, including tractors and trucks, at one location. This would help avoid confusion about weight during market transactions, he said.
