The Chikkamagalur District Administration announced a holiday for schools in parts of seven talls on Saturday, August 30, with regard to heavy rain in the district.
Meena Nagaraj, deputy Commissioner, in her order on Friday, said that Anganwadis, elementary schools Ambale, Avathi, Jagara, Hrasar, Aldur, Khandya Hoblis from Chikkamagalur Taluk and those in Lakkavalli and Lingadahalli of Tarikere
With regard to the safety of children, the district administration declared the holiday, said the Commissioner’s deputy, adding that schools could organize courses in the upcoming holidays to compensate for the loss of working days.
Many parts of Chikkamagalur and Shivamogg continued to receive mild to heavy rains on Friday. Schools in five Taluks from Shivamogg remained closed on the day due to rains. The tide into the linganmakki and Bhadra tanks increased after heavy rains in the basin.
