
Strong rain across the district of Kalaburagi and parts of Maharashtra caused floods along Bhima, which caused a red warning in the Mahari and orange alert in Kalaburagagi.
Meanwhile, the development of rural areas and Minister Panchayat Raj and district Priyank Kharge visited the villages affected by floods and later on Friday turned to a press conference in the office of the Commissioner.
After the inspection of damaged areas and crops loss in Afzalpur Taluk, the Minister said: “Due to severe rainfall in the district and Mahari, villages are facing Bhima floods.
Record -breaking
Mr. Kharge noted that from January 2025 to 25 September 2025, Kalaburagi recorded 901 mm precipitation, which is 47% more than normal 614 mm.
“In August, we received 263 mm against normal 156 mm, which is 69% increase. Between 1 and 25 September, 202 mm rainfall, 39% above the diameter. 88 mm collisions occurred, 85% higher than usual,” he said.
Flood relief
The Minister appealed to people living along the banks of the river so that in the next three days they did not approach the river for any reason. Those who apply for relocation should provide details to the district administration, which will, in turn, make sincere efforts to help them.
Releasing water
Mr. Kharge, who pointed to heavy water out of the Mahashtra Reservoirs, said about 45,000 Cusecs from Ujani, 2.7 Lakh Cusecs of Sina, 30,000 Cusecs of Vira, and 5,000 Cusecs from Bhori Stream entered Bhima, which quickly dealt with floods.
“Hlara Sonna in Afzalpur released 3.45 Lakh Cusecs and created floods downstream,” he said.
Food distribution
According to information provided by the Minister, a total of 36 villages across Afzalpur, Jewargi, Kalaburagi and Chittapur Taluks are influenced.
The district administration has identified 31 auxiliary centers, of which 12 are currently functional and provides a shelter of 1,436 people, he added.
“Food kits are distributed to nearly 2,500 families affected by floods, with the support of Kalaburagi Radhakrishna Doddamani by district administration,” Kharge said.
Teams deployed
In Deval Ganagapur, a specialized team of national national strength was placed with 20 officers to help rescue operations.
Police, fire and emergency services and income officials were also deployed for auxiliary work.
Survey
The Minister said that joint surveys of agriculture, income and horticulture indicate damage to crops over 1.05 lakh hectares.
“About 90% of the survey has been completed. Once it is completed, we will have a complete picture of crop loss. The main minister was informed about crop damage,” he said.
Insurance, compensation
For the 2025-26 season, 3.00 952 farmers are registered in crop insurance, with 59% claiming harm.
“Surveys for these demands are completed 75%. For the 2024-25 season, Crore is 315.64 GBP already published as a replacement for insurance and will soon be credited to farmers’ accounts,” Kharge said.
He also emphasized the past efforts for assistance that he received 8,91,277 farmers 1,417 Crore for compensation, including entry subsidies and crop insurance during 2023-24.
“In 2023-24 and 2024-25, 3.63 368 farmers received 846.03 crore for crop insurance. Only £ 202 Crore was released for damage to the crops of pigeons in Kalaburagagi, 1,78,354 farmers.
