The capital, like its suburbs, witnessed rain disruption and damage on Thursday, because high -speed winds accompanied by heavy rain continued to cause confusion in early monsoons.
The operation was disturbed in several sections, when the uprooted trees and branches fell on the road in places, including Ulloor, Kowdiar, Kadakkavoor and Kazhakuttam. In Ulloor and Kowdiar, the tree branches fell on the parked vehicles, while in Kattakada a tree fell on a moving KSRTC bus, causing injury to eleven people, including conductor.
On the Kollam-Thirvananthapuram route, the train operation was disrupted after the trees fell on the track in Kazhakuttam and Kadakkavoor. Although the obstacles were removed, the operation was not yet to be restored when the news appeared for the last time, because the work on the renewal of overhead traction power plants went. More than 10 trains were held for hours at different points in the collam-threvananthapuram section, causing commuting problems.
Disruption of power was reported from various electrical sections of the State Electrical Council in the district. Most of the fire and rescue staff, as well as vehicles from the fire stations in the city, were on the ground and late into the night throughout the night to remove the operation and disturbance of energy caused by fallen trees and branches. The district administration has so far moved 11 persons to two auxiliary camps in the capital.
