Heavy rain causes waterlogging and paralyzes rush hour traffic in Hyderabad on July 28
Heavy rains lashed several parts of Hyderabad on Tuesday (July 28) evening, causing waterlogging and severe traffic jams across the city during the peak commute. A clear and sunny day gave way to dark clouds around 5pm, with widespread showers disrupting traffic on major roads and junctions.
The IT corridor witnessed some of the worst traffic snarls, with long queues of vehicles stretching across the stretch between 8 pm and 9 pm Heavy traffic was reported near IKEA, Madhapur, Gachibowli and Khajaguda as waterlogging slowed vehicular movement and turned the area into a sea of red taillights.

After the downpour, several roads across the city were flooded. Waterlogging was reported on PVNR Highway near Pillar No. 250, Amberpet, Mughal Ka Nala, SR Nagar Road Under Bridge, NFCL Junction, KCP Junction, Chilkalguda X Road, Bible House, Santosh Dhaba towards Kondapur, Hafeezpet towards Kondapur, Miyapur, Kondapur towards Kothaguda Road towards Jubile, Road No. Jeedimetla, West Marredpally and AOC center towards Safilgud.
Traffic jams were reported on several major roads including the stretch towards Wells Fargo from My Home Bhooja, Labor Adda from RTA office, Doyens Colony from IIIT Junction, IKEA towards Cyber Towers, Kothaguda Junction, Praja Bhavan, NABARD at Masab Tank, Begumpet towards Paradise and Parade Ground.

A tree branch fell on Road No. 10 in Banjara Hills opposite Banjara Bhavan, resulting in further traffic jams on the affected stretch.
Traffic police personnel, including senior officers from Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri commissionerates, were deployed at key junctions to regulate traffic, clear waterlogged stretches and ensure smooth movement of vehicles. Teams from the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) Disaster Response Force (DRF) were also deployed to drain the water and restore normal operations.

According to Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) data, as of 9 pm, Musheerabad recorded 50 mm of rainfall followed by 49.8 mm in Tarnaka, 46 mm in Bansilalpet, 41.5 mm in Jubilee Hills, 40.3 mm in Osmania University, 39.8 mm in Bowenpally, 39.8 mm in Bowenpally, 379 mm. Adibatla, 37 mm in Kavadiguda, 36.5 mm in Chandanagar, 35.8 mm in Hafeezpet, 35.5 mm in Maitrivanam, 34.8 mm in Yousufguda, 34.8 mm in Serilingampally and 34.5 mm in Nacharam.
Meanwhile, heavy rains were also recorded in many parts of the state. Maqdumpur in Kamareddy recorded 70.5 mm of rainfall followed by 65 mm in Jukkal (Kamareddy), 60.3 mm in Heerapur (Adilabad), 58.8 mm in Tamsi (Adilabad), 57.8 mm in Pitlam (Kamareddy) and 50.8 mm in Ramnagar (Adilabad).

Heavy rainfall forecast in 10 districts on July 29
Additionally, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast of heavy rainfall for 10 districts of Telangana on Wednesday (July 29).

According to the latest IMD bulletin, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak and Kamareddy districts.
