Municipal Administration and Minister of City Development and Minister of Kakinada P. Narayan on Friday promised to accelerate the 500 Crore proposed renovation of the Government General Hospital, Kakinada and the Crore Geotube project to prevent the coast erosion in the Kakinada district.
Mr. Narayana reviewed the proposed projects and government initiatives during the inspection meeting with officials and public representatives in the city.
Collector S. Shan Mohan informed Mr. Narayan that the state government still has to approve the Geotube UPPAD project to hand it over to the National Fundamental Code for Contracting.
“Two main projects, reconstruction of GGH and uppad Geotube, will have the priority of finding funds from the center,” Narayana said.
As far as the Aqua industry is concerned, Mr. Narayana ordered officials to ensure any pollution of agricultural crops and groundwater sources that did not occur as a result of aquaculture practices.
Aquaculture spreads to more than 23,000 acres in the district.
Among the present were the Chairman of the Office for the Development of the Municipal Kakinada Tummal Ramaswamy, Mlas Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao and Pantham Nanaji.
