The Chief Judge India (CJI) Bravai assured on Wednesday that he would deal with the recent Directive of the Supreme Court to remove stray dogs from Dilli streets and move them to shelters.

This problem was alerted by a lawyer who quoted an earlier judgment of the Supreme Court, which prohibits non -disturbing dog killing. The lawyer said that this decision emphasized the need for compassion for all living beings.
The lawyer raised concerns about the SC command of 11 August and directed the removal of all stray dogs from Dilli streets within six to eight weeks.
“It is with regard to the problem of community dogs … There is an earlier judgment of this court, which says there cannot be indiscriminate killing of canines, of which Judge Karol was part. It is said that compassion for all living beings must be there,” the lawyer said.
“But the second bench of the judge has already taken orders. I’ll look at it,” Gavai said, as Livelaw says.
On Monday, the JB Pardiwala bench and R Mahadevan ordered all the locations to be liberated from stray dogs, without a compromise. The order stated that no captured animal would be released on the streets.

SC also warned against contempt for any individual or organization that prevents the authorities from implementing a captivity unit.
The bench ordered states and municipal authorities to create shelters for dogs with sufficient staff to sterilize and immunize them.
“NCT Deli, Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad, MCD and NMDC will start picking up stray dogs from all locations, especially more vulnerable sites. It is in favor of learning and to create strength first.
This also ordered that the Delhi-NCR authorities set up a help line so that all complaints from dog bite could be registered, while an offensive animal was picked up within four hours after the complaint. He also ordered all authorities to maintain a record of captured and detained records of daily stray dogs. The bench said that CCTV monitoring will ensure compliance with the regulations and no dog should be released back to the streets or public spaces.
