Congress leader Jagga Reddy strongly refuted K Kavith’s claim that he had joined the party “due to personal grudge against former minister Harish Rao”, calling the statement “false and misleading”. He said he joined the Congress after being invited by former CM YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
Addressing the media on Sunday, Mr. Jagga Reddy clarified that his decision to leave the TRS had nothing to do with Mr. Harish Rao. “Harish Rao’s politics and my politics are completely different. I neither left the party out of anger nor in opposition to him,” he claimed.
Mr. Jagga Reddy took a look at Ms. Kavitha and said that she grew up in politics as KCR’s daughter, while he built his political career independently. “Why am I needlessly drawn into your internal strife?” he asked.
Mr. Jagga Reddy explained the real reason behind his entry into the Congress and thanked YSR, who was impressed by his political stature and invited him to join the party promising major development initiatives, including IITs and a four-lane highway for the region.
He said the political rivalry between him and Mr. Harish Rao continued in the district and alleged that he tried to corner him politically after Rahul Gandhi’s successful meeting in Sangaredda.
Stating that he believed in “direct politics”, Mr Jagga Reddy said he was concerned about some recent developments but would reveal all the details at the appropriate time. “I will speak in May. Once I make up my mind, I will never go back,” he said, adding that he was not interested in the post of chairman of the election committee.
