State Home Minister Bandi Sanjay said he has handed over his son Bandi Bageerath for police investigation through law abiding advocates.
In a statement issued late on Saturday (May 16) evening, Mr Sanjay said: “All are equal before the law. All should follow the rule of law.”
“My son has repeatedly maintained that he is innocent,” Mr. Sanjay said, referring to the POCSO case registered against Mr. Bageerath at the Petbasheerabad police station in Hyderabad.
“In fact, I was thinking of handing him over to the police station soon after filing the complaint. We consulted the lawyers and submitted the evidence to them. The lawyers, after examining it, said the case would be dropped and bail would be granted. As a result, there was a slight delay,” said Mr. Sanjay.
He further said, “Even today, the lawyers are saying that bail will be granted. However, I felt it was not right to delay the matter further. That is why I have handed over my son through the lawyers to the police for investigation.”
“I have full faith in the judiciary,” added Mr. Sanjay.
