The Blackcaps star showed off his piloting skills on Tuesday (March 17) when he successfully landed a light aircraft at Auckland’s Ardmore Aerodrome. Phillips shared an Instagram post on his official account showing how he performed a technical maneuver to land safely.
Phillips continues his journey to obtain his commercial pilot’s license. The all-rounder said he recently interacted with students and instructors at the Ardmore Aviation School.
PHILLIPS AND HIS LOVE OF AVIATION
Phillips has made no secret of the fact that he is a big fan of flying and said that if he had a lot of money, he would choose a career in aviation rather than cricket. He even hinted that being a pilot will be first on the list when it comes to finding a career after cricket.
“Yes, it’s a huge passion of mine. If I hadn’t played cricket and had all the money in the world when I was growing up, I probably would have ended up as a pilot to be fair. I love being in the air,” Phillips said.
“Ideally, I’d like to go to the mountains and not need a job at all, just enjoy all my hobbies. But if I still need to work, piloting would be my first option on the list,” he added.
Phillips will be next in action during the IPL as he will play for Gujarat Titans.
