HC issues notice to CBFC, producers of Kerala Story 2 – Goes Beyond

February 20, 2026

The Kerala High Court has issued a notice to the producers of the Hindi feature film Kerala Story 2 – Goes Beyond and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in response to a plea challenging the release of the film’s censor certificate.

The premiere of the film is scheduled for February 27. A bench of Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas issued a notice on a stay plea by Kannur resident Sreedev Namboodiri, who claimed that the certificate was issued without complying with the provisions of the Cinematography Act, 1952. He said the trailer and trailer of the film stated that the titles of the story include women from multiple narratives. linking alleged incidents of terrorism and forced conversions exclusively to the state.

Referring to the first film in the series, The Kerala Story, which created “serious controversy due to false claims”, he argued that the upcoming film has the potential to stigmatize the entire regional population, disrupt public order and incite communal and religious disharmony. Despite this, the certification was granted without properly examining its impact on public order, decency and morality, i.e. the aspects stipulated by the Cinematography Act.

Moreover, the closing statements in the teaser and trailer call for retaliation and create real and immediate concerns about law and order issues, he said. The matter was brought up for hearing on Tuesday.
