Police in Delhi arrested a man in a false fraud with a hotel reservation that focused on several unsuspecting tourists looking for a luxury holiday.
Police arrested 25 -year -old Sharkha Khan and informed a sophisticated scam on Thursday.
According to police, Khan created the websites of fake hotels to cheat on an unsuspecting traveler out of their money.
Luxury Fraud Hotel: What was Modus Operandi?
The police said Shahrukh Khan accepted a very simple but highly effective operandi modus to cheat tourists.
Scammer would propose a real fake fake website imitating the famous 5 -star hotels using realistic images and branding. To add this, he would give you acquaintances when renting a room to lure customers.
According to a report to the police, one such website – a fake version of the official website Lalit Golf & Spa Resort in Goa, a luxury hotel.
Khan used the online website to promote this website and set the bait for potential victims looking for discounts when booking their stays. As soon as someone came to the web to try to book, Scammer would present as a hotel representative. Then he would convince them to transfer the money to the reservations.
Counterfeit e -mail, UPI payments
To make the reservation more realistic, Khan used counterfeit e -maly and news that would seem authentic and complemented by copied logos and professional language.
“To add credibility, he received payments via UPI QR codes, so the transactions looked legitimate. After receiving the money, he would cut off all contact and remain without reservation or compensation,” the police officer said.
£33 000 away, the police probe bust fraud
In one of the incidents, the accused allegedly lured the victim to reserve the expected stay at the Lalit Golf & Spa Resort in Goa. Only after the payment made the victim realized that he was deceived £33 000.
After receiving the complaint, the police followed the trail of digital tracks and financial transactions that provided enough evidence to arrest Khan.
“The team, led by Inspector Pravesh Kushik, worked tirelessly to watch Khan, by technical supervision and digital analysis to identify his placement. Finally, Khan was arrested in Mewat, Haryan and two mobile phones used in a crime.” DCP (Southwest).
The cheated money was routed through a business bank account while a fake website was registered using fraudulent login information.
Further investigation revealed that Shahrukh Khan organized a false website through a co-mound NASEEM. Police are also trying to arrest the other person.
