Gangsters Himanshu Bhau and Neeraj Faridpuria, wanted in several cases of murder, extortion and shootouts, were arrested by the US authorities in Las Vegas on a tip-off from the Haryana Special Task Force (STF).

Haryana STF Inspector General Simardeep Singh confirmed the development and told The Hindu that the two gangsters were nabbed in Las Vegas.

Himanshu, a native of Ritoli village in Rohtak district, allegedly entered the world of crime at the age of 17 when he was accused of attempted murder and extortion, STF sources said. In 2020, he escaped from the Juvenile Correctional Facility in Hisar and subsequently started his gang.

He fled India in 2022 using a fake passport and traveled via Dubai and Portugal before allegedly entering the US illegally two years ago. He is suspected of remotely controlling a network of gunmen in India through encrypted messaging apps to carry out extortion and targeted attacks.

A total of 64 criminal cases are registered against him, Haryana Police sources said.

Neeraj Faridpuria, a native of Palwal district, is facing more than two dozen criminal cases registered in Delhi, Haryana and Punjab, which include murder, extortion and organized crime.

The two gangsters also claimed responsibility for last year’s shooting outside YouTuber Elvish Yadav’s residence in Gurugram. Gunmen reportedly fired 25 to 30 shots outside the house in an incident linked to extortion and betting operations.
