The US government reduced funding at the University of Harvard over $ 2.2 billion after President Donald Trump postponed his requirements for protests and changes in diversity policy – part of the diversity, justice and inclusion (DEI) in the US.
The Working Group of the Ministry of Education in the fight against anti -Semitism on Monday, April 14, said it would freeze multi -year grants for more years of $ 2.2 billion and the multi -year values of the Harvard University contract.
“The Harvard statement today strengthens the disturbing thinking that is endemic at the most prestigious universities and universities of our nation – that federal investments are not liable to comply with civil rights,” he read a letter from the Federal Government.
Development comes when Trump’s administration moves to reduce federal expenses to dozens of university – University of Pennsylvania, Brown and Princeton – accused of permission to protests against Israel and thus let anti -Semitism check on the university campus and leave extensive DEI programs.
How Harvard Snul Trump?
In a public letter Harvard President Alan Garber wrote that if the university adopts the requirements of the Ministry of Education Donald Trump, it would allow the federal government to “control” the Harvard community and endanger “values as a private institution devoted to persecution, production and spread”.
Alan Garber said that no federal government, regardless of the party in power, should not dictate private universities about what they teach, admit or hire on the premises.

He said, “No government – no matter which party is in power – should dictate what private universities can teach, whom they can admit and hire and which areas of study and investigation can monitor.”
“The university will not give up its independence or give up its constitutional rights,” he said.
“These objectives will not be achieved by claiming the power that are by law to control teaching and learning at Harvard and dictate how we operate. Work of solving our shortcomings, fulfilling our obligations and the embodiment of our values is our definition and burden as a community,” Alan Garber wrote.
