English carnage in the 5th T20I
Shrugging off an early wicket, England produced a batting exhibition to amass an impressive 257/3 in 20 overs in the fifth and final T20I against India at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. The hosts suffered an early blow when Phil Salt departed for 6, but that brought only Jose Buttler and captain Harry Brook together to take the game away from India completely. The pair put together a remarkable 233-run second-wicket partnership, one of the highest second-wicket stands in T20I history, as England dominated from the Powerplay to the final.Buttler led the charge with a scintillating 131 off 64 balls, bringing up only the second T20I century of his international career. At the other end, Brook continued his outstanding run with an unbeaten 95 off 45 deliveries, reaching his half-century in just 19 balls before falling agonizingly short of a hundred. Together, the duo dismantled the Indian bowling attack with a relentless display of clean batting, propelling England to one of their highest T20I totals in history. For India, Shivam Dube (2/22) picked up two wickets in consecutive balls in the penultimate match with Buttler and Jacob Bethell taking the first ball. Prasidh Krishna (1/38) was the next wicket for India.India have already lost the five-match series after conceding a 0-3 lead.
