Meanwhile, Pratika Rawal proved to be an excellent Indian batter. After a quiet first innings, she battled hard in the second and scored her maiden Test fifty off 101 balls. She scored 63 runs off 137 balls with eight fours before Gardner claimed her wicket.
King also played his part in cleaning up the lower order, dismissing Kashvee Gautam and Sayali Satghare to finish with figures of 10-2-23-2. Pratik’s gritty knock helped India take a 24-run lead after being bowled out for 149 in 48.2 overs in the first innings.
In the second session, Australia made light work of the target, scoring 25 runs in 4.3 overs. While Voll remained unbeaten on 16, Phoebe Litchfield scored 11 off 14. Australia’s finish was emphatic, with Voll hitting three consecutive fours off Kashvee Gautam to lead her team over the finish line at a gallop.
India would be hoping to win the multi-format series after taking a 4-2 lead in the T20I series but have completely lost momentum and composure since the ODI series.
