Haritha Keralam Mission has initiated steps to prepare comprehensive water conservation and water literacy action plans under the leadership of local self-governing institutions in Kannur district.
The decision was taken at a district meeting of the Haritha Keralam Mission held here as part of preparations for the National Environment Summit to be held in Thiruvananthapuram later this month. The meeting decided to expand water quality testing by setting up laboratories in all higher secondary schools, expand Devaharitham green islands to temples and other places of worship and promote agri-tourism by forming a tourism consortium.

Inaugurated by Kannur District Panchayat President Binoy Kurian recently, the district meeting also presented awards to the organizers of the Perumkaliyattam festival at Muchilot Bhagavathi Temple in Cherukunna for successfully implementing eco-friendly protocols during the event.
