Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) floor leader in the Assembly and former minister T. Harish Rao alleged that the Congress government is acting with political vendetta against the people of Siddipet constituency as the cancellation of development works worth ₹1,070 crore is a clear sign.
In an open letter to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday, ahead of his visit to the constituency on Sunday, Mr Rao said the Chief Minister had also shifted the veterinary college approved at Siddipet to his constituency Kodangal. He demanded that the Chief Minister return all the development works amounting to ₹1,070 crore to Siddipet.
Talking to mediators there, he said that the palm factory in the constituency has become a reality because of the Kaleshwaram project, which was built by the K. Chandrasekhar Rao government in the past. He said a total of 22,819 farmers (52% in Siddipet constituency) who were eligible for the farm loan waiver scheme did not get the benefit – including 350 in Narmeta village, where the chief minister was to inaugurate an oil palm factory.
The BRS leader claimed that not a single new scheme/benefit has been sanctioned for Siddipet constituency during the last two years. He said all the facilities/programmes were sanctioned during the previous BRS rule including allocation of funds and completion of construction. Mr. Revanth Reddy will have his name on the plaque while all the hard work will be done by the previous government.
Even the oil palm factory at Narmeta including a refinery set up at a cost of ₹ 300 crore with modern technology was a decision of the BRS government. The previous government had given 62 acres of land to the factory through TGIIC and he (Harish Rao) personally spoke to the farmers and convinced them to start palm plantations in those areas.
Further, it was the previous government that widened the Kaleshwaram canal and constructed a reservoir/pond with a capacity of 20 million liters of water required for the oil palm factory. The Chief Minister would also inaugurate the Central Drug Store at ₹3.6 crore, Ayush Hospital at ₹25 crore, Public Health Center at Gatla Malyala at ₹1.4 crore, Municipal PHC building at Siddipet – all these were approved by me as Health Minister in the past and he completed their construction during his tenure, Mr. Rao.
Even the district jail, which was to be inaugurated by the chief minister on Sunday, on 30 acres of land, was approved and built by the previous government at a cost of ₹ 78 crore, he noted.
