Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Deputy Supreme Leader in the Assembly T. Harish Rao accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of betraying tribal communities, failing farmers, introducing people to job creation and neglecting the welfare of SCs and STs.
Speaking to reporters in Kodangal on Friday, Mr. Harish Rao said that it was ironic that Mr. Revanth Reddy had traveled to other states like Kerala and talked about good governance and welfare, while the ST communities continued to face injustice, land-related harassment and official neglect in his constituency, Kodangal.
Referring to the tribal identity and sentiment of the region, he said that the Lokamasand Maharaj Bavoji temple, which is considered sacred by the tribal communities in the area, did not have proper connectivity and during the BRS government, ₹8 crore was released for the construction of a bridge over the local stream with the efforts of the then MLA P. Narender Reddy.
Another Rs 80 lakh has been sanctioned for the temple and Rs 50 lakh for Banjara Bhavan, demonstrating the BRS government’s commitment to the dignity and welfare of tribal communities. It was the K. Chandrashekhar Rao government that elevated 3,100 tribal villages to gram panchayats towards tribal self-respect and decentralized governance.
He accused the Congress government of completely reneging on the promises it made to the SC and ST communities. He said the government had allocated ₹2,730 crore in the 2025-26 budget for ST Corporation but spent only ₹52 crore. In addition, ₹ 100 million to Sevalal Corporation, but failed to release even a rupee.
