Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya blasted six sixes in an over against Vidarbha in the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy at the Niranjan Shah Stadium, Khandheri, Rajkot on Saturday, January 3. Pandya unleashed his wrath against Parth Rekhade as he smashed a breathtaking 68-ball century to Baroda.
Pandya was eventually dismissed for a sensational 133 (92), smashing eight fours and 11 towering sixes in a remarkable display of power hitting. He went after Parth Rekhad in the 39th over, hitting him for five consecutive sixes followed by a boundary to get his century off just 68 balls.
The 32-year-old rescued his team from a precarious position of 71/5 and received minimal support from his brother Krunal Pandya (23 off 50) and Vishnu Solanki (26 off 17). While Krunal and Solanki manned the wicket from one end and tried to steady the innings, Pandya took on the Vidarbha bowlers with fearless intent.
He first put together a crucial 68-ball partnership with Krunal, followed by a blistering 45-run stand off 35 balls with Solanki. Pandya brought up his half-century from just 44 balls and then bowled quickly, unleashing his full range of strikes on the opposition bowlers.
He was eventually dismissed by Yash Thakur in the 46th over after playing a vital role in helping his team cross the 250-run mark. Courtesy of Pandya’s fireworks and late acceleration, Baroda finished their innings at a competitive 293/9 in their allotted 50 overs. Thakur was the pick of the bowlers for Vidarbha and returned impressive figures of 4/64 from his ten-over spell.
Meanwhile, Axar Patel also rescued Gujarat after they were left reeling at 29/3 early in their innings with a classy century. He played a magnificent innings of 130 off 111 balls with the help of ten fours and five sixes. The left-handed batsman first stitched a 51-run stand off 58 balls with Jaymeet Patel (29 off 47) to stabilize the innings. Next he found excellent support from Vishal Jayswal (70 out of 60)with the duo adding a massive 142 runs for the seventh wicket from 117 balls.
Patel eventually helped Gujarat post a mammoth total of 318/9 in their allotted 50 overs. Satyanarayana Raju proved to be the most successful bowler for Andhra, finishing with figures of 4/53 from his ten overs.
