Thousands of Americans, to which the demonstrators in overseas joined, went to the streets on Saturday in what the organizers called the biggest protest against Donald Trump since their return to the White House in January. “Hands off!” Movement, supported by more than 150 activist groups, focused on Trump and his advisor Elon Musk for what critics describe as a sweeping conservative power.
Here is why demonstrators take the streets – explained at 5 key points:
1 .. National Resistance Day
In all 50 countries, more than 1200 coordinated protests took place – as in Canada, Mexico and cities in Europe. The Assembly indicates what the organizers expect to be the largest one -day protest of Trump’s second term, reflecting the growing opposition to its rapid political actions and a conservative agenda.
2 .. Skrtback Against Project 2025 and Executive Orders
Demonstrators are gathering against Trump’s killing of executive orders that critics claim to comply with the 2025-right plan for the reworking of the Federal Government, the expansion of presidential power and demonstrate the key protection of the civil service. Many of these actions are considered to be threats to democratic institutions and civil rights.
3. Global Solidarity against Trump’s agenda
Demonstrations in Berlin, Paris, London and other European cities were already underway before the start of protests in the US. American compatriots and allies abroad with the movement expressed solidarity and condemned Trump’s policies as authoritarian and destructive to democracy.
4. Who is behind the movement?
Progressive groups including indivisible, Moveon, Greenpeace, Human Rights Campaign and International Union of Service Employs (SEIA) at the head of protests. Their message: to oppose Trump, Muska and Republican pressure on the transformation of the US in a way that undermines social, environmental and economic protection.
5. Political concerns: from social security to Gaza
Demonstrators report a wide range of concerns – from fear that Trump will guard social security and Medicaid, to anger over his attitude to immigration, LGBTQ+ rights and work protection. Pro-Palestinian groups also joined protests and combined the support of the administration of Israeli actions in Gaza with wider issues of human rights.
