Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel said in a social media post that his investigative agency has made several arrests, foiling a violent attack over the Halloween weekend in Michigan. Kash Patel did not release additional information on how many people were arrested, but said more information would be forthcoming.
“This morning the FBI foiled a potential terrorist attack and arrested several subjects in Michigan who were allegedly planning a violent attack over the Halloween weekend. We will bring more details. Thanks to the men and women of the FBI and law enforcement who are everywhere 24/7 destroying our mission to defend the homeland,” Kash Patel reported.
According to The Associated Press, law enforcement efforts appear to be underway in the Detroit area. In the Dearborn area, FBI and state police vehicles were seen in a neighborhood near Fordson High School. The investigator was seen leaving the house, grabbing some items from the FBI evidence van and going back inside.
Dearborn police said in a social media post that the department was notified that the FBI had conducted operations in the city on Friday, Oct. 31, and assured residents that there was no threat to the community.
In a separate incident in May, the FBI arrested Ammar Said, who allegedly spent months planning an attack on a US military facility in suburban Detroit on behalf of the Islamic State (IS) group. He said he did not know the individuals he believed to be his accomplices were actually undercover FBI agents.
Video on social media also shows some federal agents raiding a home on Middle Point Street in Dearborn in connection with a Halloween weekend terror plot.
According to some reports on social media, neighbors in the area described being “awakened by loud bangs and flashing lights as heavily armed agents surrounded the property and moved in.”
