The sudden downpour followed by hail and heavy Gales has jumped trees along the Chittoor-Puttur motorway on several sections in Sri Rangaraja Puram Mandal on Monday evening.
The heavy rain plunged the Kothapalli Mitta area to Ksheer Sagaram from GD Nellore and SR Puram Mandals. In the village of Nelavai, several trees were uprooted and fell across the highway, blocking the operation for several hours. Police deployed the country to clean the blockade.
Meanwhile, the hail led to the forfeiture of thermal conditions in the eastern mandals of the Chittoor. It is also expected to damage mango crop in some villages. The power supply was also interrupted in a dozen villages via SR Puram mandal.
