
Habitual offenders living in and around the North Eastern Division will be under strict surveillance, with the jurisdictional police instructed to closely monitor their movements and initiate strict deterrence measures in case of any violation.
The directions were issued during a crime review meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East Division) GK Mithun Kumar. All Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP), Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors of Crime Division attended the meeting.
During the meeting, senior officers reviewed the implementation of crime prevention measures, speedy disposal of cases at the investigation stage and the overall progress of investigative work. Emphasis was placed on increasing the speed and quality of operational performance.
Key discussions focused on the monitoring of habitual offenders and Modus Operandi offenders. Police officers were ordered to maintain round-the-clock surveillance of recidivists, analyze their movements and take appropriate preventive and deterrent measures.
Effective use of the Central Device Registry (CEIR) portal for tracing lost and stolen mobile phones was also highlighted. Police officers have been instructed to speed up the search and raise public awareness of the portal.
Special instructions have been issued to expeditiously dispose of pending cases at the investigation stage within stipulated time limits with instructions to promptly report to the courts while maintaining the quality of investigation and legal procedures.
Cases involving women and children were ordered to be heard on a priority basis. Police officers have been instructed to ensure speedy disposal of such sensitive cases and provide necessary protection, assistance and support to the victims.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of holding regular grassroots meetings to gather information on local issues, public complaints and emerging trends in crime, followed by appropriate remedial measures.
To increase public confidence, officers were instructed to conduct regular patrols of the area in crime-prone areas.
At the end of the meeting, all police officers were directed to closely coordinate and cooperate to enhance public safety, improve law enforcement effectiveness and further strengthen crime prevention measures.
