A 25-year-old man wanted in a series of burglaries reported from Rayalaseema districts was arrested on Friday and found with gold ornaments weighing 98 grams, about 400 grams of silver articles and ₹54,500 in cash.
The accused, identified as Shaik Babavali of YSR Nagar in Nandyal, was nabbed during a routine vehicle check near Nagulakatta on Nandamuri Nagar Road in the city.
Police said Babavali tried to escape on a motorcycle without a number plate, raising suspicions about his possible involvement in bike thefts.
Superintendent of Police Sunil Shoran said Babavali was involved in numerous thefts and burglaries since 2025. Offenses were reported from Nandyal, Bandi Atmakur, Revanur, Sanjamala, Gadivemula, Bethamcherla and Avuku police station limits and other parts of Rayalaseema.
