The Trump administration is preparing to defend its H-1B fee hike in court, amid several lawsuits challenging the $100,000 fee imposed on new visa applicants, ANI reported.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Thursday (local time) that the H-1B program has been used for a long time and has reduced the wages of American citizens. She added that the goal of the policy is to prioritize American workers and reduce fraud in the H-1B system.
“The administration will fight these lawsuits in court. The president’s top priority has always been to put American workers first and strengthen our visa system. For too long, the H-1B visa system has been driven by fraud, and that has driven down American wages. So the president wants to improve that system, which is part of the reason he put these new policies in place. These actions are legal, the fight must continue,” they told the court. press staff at a press conference in the White House.
